Financial acrobatics has always been something that interested me. Moving chunks of money here and there and making 37% percent on this and 130% return on that. Working the market or gaming real estate to make your fortune. Reading and learning about these things always sparks a little something in me. I think “boy, I’d love to do that, that’d be swell by golly!” But in the end I always find myself in the same place, slightly blinded by the shiny success and turning back to my “ordinary” life, where I don’t make investments and leave my hard-earned pennies sitting there bored to tears just waiting to be spent on frivolous things.
It’s a hard thing for me because logically I say “I’m working for this money, it should be working for me.” I know I should be investing, laying out my retirement plan, setting aside for my future children’s um…future. But when it comes down to it I know I really WANT to do these things, but I don’t know HOW. I know all these principles and basics, but I don’t really know how to apply it to my life.
My friend Ryan is currently on a mission to solve this problem for people like me. He has just begun an April series entitled $3.1 Million in 30 Days and 12 Easy Steps: An Investing Primer for Young Adults. The series aims at those of us that are young and are at a ripe time in life to start making financial tracks for the future but are not quite knowledgeable enough to get up and get it done. I’m looking forward to the series and all that Ryan has to teach me. Check it out.
P.S. – Congrats Ben and Amber on your beautiful baby boy Noah!
